Johannesburg - A 56-year-old woman has been admitted to hospital with serious
head and facial injuries after she was assaulted on her farm near Ventersdorp
on Saturday, North West police said.
Alida Hartzer was allegedly attacked in her bedroom by two men around 02:00 on
Saturday, said Superintendent Louis Jacobs.
He said Hartzer's daughter found her lying in the room when she returned home
and contacted police.
It is believed that Hartzer was attacked with a blunt object.
"We are still investigating as to how access was gained to the house. We
believe two suspects were involved, but we are not yet certain," said
Jacobs.
The woman was admitted to a Potchefstroom hospital in a serious condition.
"Due to the seriousness of her injuries no further information about the
incident could be obtained from her," said Jacobs.
He said two cellphones were stolen from the house, but police were still
investigating whether other household items were missing.
No arrests have been made and the serious and violent crime unit is
investigating.
