Elderly woman survives farm attacked
07 January  2007

An 83-year-old farm owner was treated for shock in Magaliesburg after three men assaulted her with a sharp object and stabbed her dog on Saturday afternoon, West Rand police said.

Spokesperson Inspector Solomon Sibiya said the woman was alone when the men, armed with knifes, pounced on her.

"They tied her hands with an electric cord and hit her with a sharp object on the head while ransacking her house," he said.

When the woman's dog ran into the house to try and help, the men stabbed it.

"The woman was treated on the scene and her dog was taken to the veterinary," Sibiya said.

The men then fled with R1 000, jewellery and electrical appliances.

No arrests have been made and police were looking for the suspects.
