MINISTER CHARGES IN THE WRONG DIRECTION

"The  deterioration of agriculture in Sub Sahara Africa is due to bad policies, according to President Mbeki's brother, Moeletsi Mbeki", the Deputy President of TAU SA, Mr Willie Lewies said.  Minister Xingwana has proved this once again with her unilateral submission to the portfolio committee regarding her views on AGRIBEE in South Africa.

Irrespective of her department's proven inability to ensure sustainable management of the agricultural sector, she continues to enforce impractical policies on agriculture.  Considerable damage has already been done.  What is going to happen when it becomes impossible for farmers to maintain sustainability on their farms?  The loss of more than 12 000 commercial farmers in the following years, is increasingly becoming reality.  The result could cause serious damage to food production in South Africa and the loss of food security in Southern Africa.

TAU SA is presently drafting a memorandum to explain this development impacting on agricultural policy and this will be made available as a matter of urgency.  The media could expect an invitation soon.

Groot skade is reeds hierdeur berokken.
